US rapper Rico Nasty has been having a pretty killer year. Back in April, she released her most recent album Anger Management with longtime producer and collaborator Kenny Beats. And then, just last month, she was named as part of this year’s annual XXL Freshman Class, a category that also included Tierra Whack, Megan Thee Stallion, YBN Cordae and more artists the hip-hop magazine has tipped as ones to watch.
Now, Rico has released her first new music since Anger Management, returning with the predictably fire ‘Times Flies’. It’s less of a rager than most of the material on Anger Management or prior album Nasty, a somewhat more reflective cut.
As if that wasn’t enough, Rico’s XXL Freshman cypher with fellow Freshman Classers Blueface and YBN Cordae was released earlier today. Rico features first up on the freestyle, and it’s a real insight into her technique and skills.
Check out both ‘Time Flies’ and the XXL cypher featuring Rico below. If you’re liking what you hear, the rapper is set to tour Australia for the first time in January next year as part of FOMO Festival, alongside the likes of Brockhampton, Kaytranada, Lizzo and more. Tickets are on sale now.
