Sky Ferreira has returned with new single ‘Don’t Forget’. The pop singer’s first new music since 2019 single ‘Downhill Lullaby’ was co-written with Jorge Elbrecht and Tamaryn Brown.
Stylistically, ‘Don’t Forget’ is classic Sky, with big drums, fuzzed-out bass and new wave synth-pop flairs echoing cuts like ‘Heavy Metal Heart’ and ‘I Will’ from 2013 album Night Time, My Time.
While not yet confirmed, ‘Downhill Lullaby’ and ‘Don’t Forget’ will likely appear on Ferreira’s forthcoming second album, which is tentatively titled Masochism. The record was first announced for a 2015 release and has been delayed several times.
In 2016, Ferreira explained the delays in an Instagram post, writing, “I refuse to put out something that isn’t honest. It’s not something that I can force out. If I was to do it any sooner I either would have been compromising myself & anyone listening.”
Shortly after returning with ‘Downhill Lullaby’ in 2019, Ferreira appeared on Charli XCX‘s Charli cut ‘Cross You Out’. Last November, Ferreira wrote on social media that her new album was “actually coming out” in 2022, and while details have yet to materialise, all signs point to the long-awaited record finally making its way to fans sometime this year.
