Macklemore Announces 2024 Australian Tour

Macklemore, who in recent weeks has been advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza, has announced a run of arena shows around Australia and New Zealand in May 2024. It’s the Seattle rapper’s first headline tour of Australia since the early months of 2018. In November 2022, Macklemore came over for the Fridayz Live festival, travelling around Australia alongside TLC, Craig David, Ashanti and more.

The 2024 tour is in support of Macklemore’s latest album, BEN, which came out in March 2023. Macklemore will begin in Wellington and Auckland before heading to Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, Melbourne’s John Cain Arena, Riverstage in Brisbane and HBF Stadium in Perth. Details below.

Macklemore’s latest album was preceded by the single ‘Chant’ featuring Tones and I. The record also includes the singles ‘Heroes’ (feat. DJ Premier), ‘Faithful’ (feat. NLE Choppa) and ‘No Bad Days’ (feat. Collett). It’s just his second official solo LP, with the first two – 2012’s The Heist and 2016’s This Unruly Mess I’ve Made – credited to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Over the first weekend of November, Macklemore attended a pro-Palestine rally in Washington D.C. Despite admitting, “I don’t know enough,” the rapper was invited to make a speech. “There are thousands of people here that are more qualified to speak on the issue of a free Palestine than myself,” he said.

He continued: “They told me to be quiet. They told me to do my research, to go back, that it’s too complex to say something, right? To be silent in this moment. In the last three weeks, I’ve gone back and I’ve done some research. And I am teachable. I don’t know enough. But I know enough that this is a genocide.”
