The Weeknd Has Postponed His 2023 Australian Tour

The Weeknd will not be in Australia in November and December 2023 as planned. The Canadian pop star was due to launch a nine-date tour across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on Monday, 20th November. However, due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the tour is being pushed back to 2024.

The announcement came via Ticketek, who quoted The Weeknd as saying he was “deeply disappointed,” but “can’t wait” to be in Australia in 2024. The new show dates are yet to be announced. Ticketek confirmed that tickets will remain valid for the new shows, while refunds will be also available.

The tour’s promoters, Live Nation, also released a statement. “We understand fans will be disappointed, and Live Nation is focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule,” the company said. “We will make a further announcement as soon as possible.”

The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Australian tour was originally set to include just one show apiece in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. But due to overwhelming ticket demand, the itinerary grew to encompass a total of nine shows – two at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, three at Sydney’s Accor Stadium and four at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye last toured Australia in 2017. The album After Hours came out in 2020 and Dawn FM in 2022. The former included the single ‘Blinding Lights’, which was deemed the “top Billboard Hot 100 song of all time” by US publication Billboard.
