Manic Street Preachers Joined On Stage By Lions Centre Jamie Roberts In Melbourne

As avid supporters of the English/Irish Lions, Manic Street Preachers have made no secret that the premise of their Australian tour was to synchronise with the Lions tour Down Under, and during the band’s Melbourne performance the two worlds came together as Lions centre Jamie Roberts jumped on stage for a jam.

Roberts can be seen really getting into it in the below clip and pics. Guitar in hand, the 26-year-old helped out with the track You Love Us, in what was apparently a “dream come true” for the player. Roberts stayed up for the entirety of the track as a thousand-strong audience – which included teammates – looked on.

Chances are this performance was better than the Lions’ performance against the Wallabies on Saturday night. For those playing at home, Roberts actually sat that game out having received an injury in the previous match with the New South Wales Waratahs.

Both Manic Street Preachers and the Lions have one stop off left while in town before heading back home, and there’s still time to enter our competition to score tickets to their Sydney gig as well as a massive back catalogue pack.
