UPDATE 17/10/2017: A Perfect Circle have released a new single titled ‘The Doomed’ from their forthcoming untitled album.
ORIGINAL STORY: While the wait for a new Tool album seems never-ending, Maynard James Keenan has just hinted that he could be ready to release new music in 2018 with his other band A Perfect Circle.
Keenan tweeted promisingly yesterday, suggesting that he’ll be prioritising tour rehearsals for A Perfect Circle’s shows later this year for the time being, as well as suggesting that “new tracks” will be performed on the upcoming tour before concluding the message with the hashtag #apc2018.
In March this year A Perfect Circle confirmed their new album was due for release later in 2017, and although we’ve seen a couple of new tracks debuted live, news from the band’s official Twitter account at the end of May indicated that no album had been confirmed.
A Perfect Circle’s last studio record came in the form of 2004 LP Emotive, although Keenan and co. have unveiled a greatest hits album and live record since then.
As for Tool, bass player Justin Chancellor revealed in June that their new album was 90% completed, but as we know when it comes to Maynard, that could mean just about anything.
