Theatrical rock singer, Meatloaf, has claimed he is regularly visited by supernatural spirits.
Speaking with Shortlist, Meatloaf said“I’ve seen them, I’ve been around them. Some are just energy left behind, and some are intelligent. I’ve had conversations with them using a K2 meter, which lets them answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”
The Bat out of Hell singer also claims he once mistook a ghost for a groupie:
“When we were making ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ I saw a blonde girl in a white dress. I went downstairs and told the guys, ‘There’s a groupie up on the balcony,’ and they go, ‘How would she get up there?’ Everybody went up and no one was there.”
As for his own mortality, Meatloaf expressed his desire to die on-stage. “I go out on the stage as if it’s the last thing I’ll ever do. And that’s what I’ve always said – if I’m going out, I’m going out on stage.”
The singer also revealed during the interview with Shortlist that he had avoided the drugs and sex of the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle for the majority of his music career.
“Groupies cursed at me because I wouldn’t take them home. I’d go, ‘I can’t do it,’ and they’d go, ‘Well fuck you then!'”
“I don’t have many wild stories from the 70s or the 80s. The 60s, though, were crazy: I did acid and hung around everybody like Hendrix, Daltrey, Joplin, The Dead.”
Meatloaf will release his twelfth studio album, Hell in a Handbasket on February 27.
His first LP since Hang Cool Teddy Bear in 2010, it will feature unlikely collaborations with rapper Lil John and Chuck D from Public Enemy.
