Meg Mac Enlists Matt Corby For New Duet ‘Bricks’

Meg Mac has shared her first new music in nearly two years: A single entitled ‘Bricks’, which sees her duetting with longtime friend Matt Corby. The song was given a surprise premiere last week (July 11th) during a live show in Sydney, where Mac was supporting Teddy Swims for the first of two nights at the Hordern Pavilion.

For her closing song, Mac brought out Corby as a special guest – which she had teased earlier that day on her Instagram stories. The moment was captured by videographer Billy Zammit for the song’s official music video, which can be viewed below.

In a press statement, Mac said that she had “always wanted to sing a duet”, but “no-one has ever asked”. “I sent a voice memo to Matt, one of my favourite singers, not really expecting him to say yes,” she said. “A couple of weeks later, I was on my way to [Corby’s studio] Rainbow Valley, where we finished writing the song and recorded it straight away with Chris Collins. I can’t believe it’s coming out this quickly.”

Corby, for his part, described Mac as “a great singer and writer” in his own press statement. “We were collaborating already on some writing, and she sent me an idea to see if I would be keen to write and duet with her. We jumped into the studio pretty much straight away, and I’m loving what we came out with.”

Meg Mac released her third studio album, Matter of Time, in September of 2022. Since then, she has released a live acoustic session EP entitled Live at Golden Retriever, as well as her Like a Version of Billie Eilish‘s James Bond theme ‘No Time to Die’. Corby, meanwhile, released his third album Everything’s Fine in March 2023. He has since released the stand-alone single ‘Desert Land’ and another duet, this time with Jillian Loux on the song ‘Same Page’.
