A memorial forest will be planted to honour INXS‘ late manager Chris Murphy, who passed away peacefully at his home over the weekend at age 66.
His family are planning for the Christopher Murphy (CM) Memorial Forest to be established at Murphy‘s “Forever Home” – his beloved Ballina property, ‘Sugar Beach Ranch’.
In a statement released this week by his family, they said that the memorial forest “will continue to grow to provide a place of reflection but also to celebrate his legacy and love of nature.” If you would like to, you can gift a tree to be planted in the Memorial Forest here.
It was announced on January 16 by his family that he had passed away.
“CM celebrated an illustrious career over 40 years and made an incredible impact on the global music and entertainment industry.”
Murphy managed INXS from the band’s early days in 1979 to 1995, and then again from 2008. He’s often been applauded for his huge role in pushing the band up from their local beginnings into the global success that they found. He also managed Australian new-wave act Models in the mid-80’s for a short period.
The surviving members of INXS shared a joint statement this week on his passing, heralding him for his hard work and unwavering support.
“Without Chris’s vision, passion and hard work, the INXS story would be totally different. Chris’s star burned very bright and we celebrate a life well lived and send all our love to his family.”
