Metallica Reunite Infectious Grooves For Orion Music + More Festival

In the lead-up to the 2013 return of their Orion Music + More festival, Metallica have injected even more awesomeness into the already-bursting-at-the-seams line-up – the new additions see bassist Robert Trujillo reunite with his one-time outfit Infectious Grooves, which also features other members of Suicidal Tendencies, with the band taking to the stage for the first time in 22 years.

Back in the day, Infectious Grooves became moderately successful and even landed a gig supporting Ozzy Osbourne. The group, which dissolved in the ’80s, will be born again with Suicidal Tendencies’ Mike Muir and Dean Pleasants, Jane’s Addiction’s Stephen Perkins and Faith No More’s Jim Martin, who will be picking up where original guitarist Adam Siegel left off.

According to Trujillo, “To reunite with those guys after 22 years is going to be really special for me. Orion is the perfect place for that to happen … I’m looking forward to it.” The idea started to take shape following Suicidal Tendencies involvement in last years Orion Music + More.

That isn’t even the end of the big news. The event’s poster now also features the recently reunited Rocket From The Crypt, Dead Sara and the newly evolved Kyuss Lives!, who are now performing as Vista Chino. Local flavour will be provided by Matt Clarke and Calico.

Orion Music + More takes place over 8th-9th June in Detroit. So, yeah, as far away from us as possible, really.
