Metallica Tease 2025 Australian Tour Plans

Cancel your next haircut, because Metallica have just announced plans to return down under in 2025.

The thrash metal icons have confirmed they’ll pay us a visit in 2025, telling fans in a mailing list email that they will “return to Australia and New Zealand after far too long away!!!”

“We will return to Australia and New Zealand after far too long away!!!”

“Stay tuned for the full announcement coming VERY soon,” their statement continued.

What’s more, industry pundit (and Music Feeds founder) Joel King has spilled some bonus insider tea on the juggernaut act’s new Aussie dates on his public Facebook page, tipping that the full announcement will now most likely happen next week.

“As it stands it looks like the tour will kick off at Optus Stadium in Perth Nov 1, Marvel Stadium Melbourne Nov 8,” He wrote. “I do not have confirmation on the other Aus shows but the tour will then head to Eden Park Auckland Nov 19 – there may still be a little bit of last minute movement.”

In a separate post, he added: “Pre sale kicking off Sep 30 and will be Dynamic pricing” (groan).

The tour will mark Metallica’s first visit to Australia in over a decade – they last came here to headline Soundwave Festival back in 2013 (RIP).

They were previously set to play stadiums across the country in 2019 with Slipknot, but were forced to cancel those dates less than a month out after frontman James Hetfield checked himself into rehab for alcohol addiction. However, it’s unlikely Slipknot will be involved this time around, as they’ve already confirmed their own return down under next year to headline Knotfest 2025.

It all comes after Metallica announced a new leg of their M72 tour on their official website last week, unveiling a string of dates across the US for April, May and June next year.

Their M72 world tour so far has had a mix of ‘one night only’ shows and ‘no repeat weekends’ in each city, which see the band play two entirely different setlists with different opening acts each night, at the same venue.

Support acts for Metallica’s newly announced dates across America so far include Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Ice Nine Kills, and Suicidal Tendencies.

But Ice Nine Kills are also unlikely to be involved in ‘Tallica’s new Aussie run, as they’re already heading to our shores to support The Amity Affliction this November.

We’ll keep you updated with more info as it comes through…
