Metallica To Play First Ever Show In China, Tease New Announcement For August

For a band who has been in the game for 31-odd years, it’s hard to think there would be many firsts left for Metallica, but waddyaknow?! There’s still a box that remains unticked on their list. In their entire career, the band have never performed in China, but that is all about to change.

While you couldn’t really call it a tour, as they’ll only be performing one show, it will still be a huge moment for fans and the band themselves. On Tuesday, 13th August, Metallica will be arriving in Shanghai to perform at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The significance of the announcement isn’t lost on the band, who took to their website to announce the news:

“It is so rare for us to be able to say that we are visiting a country for the very first time, so this is an extra special announcement for us. After over 31 years of traveling to almost all corners of the world for so many amazing, wild and thrilling adventures, we will finally be heading to China!!”

Interestingly enough, the band also say to keep your eyes peeled for more announcements regarding other happenings in August. Who knows what they’ve got up these sleeves these days? Another 3D movie? Maybe Orion Music + More is going international? Get keen.

If you feel like popping over to China, tickets go on sale this Friday, 7th June at 10am local time. For more info head over to the official Metallica website
