Here’s a little more Bluesfest sideshow action to help you with your mid-week slump – musician, humanitarian and author Michael Franti and his band Spearhead will be giving us some headlining action in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne in April 2014.
The multi-genre encompassing musical juggernaut released his eighth full-length studio album, All People, last August and has just dropped his latest single I’m Alive (Life Sounds Like). The 47-year-old will be treating us to his new stuff as well as his extensive back catalogue in the flesh, with dates at The Gov in Adelaide, Metro Theatre in Sydney and Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom.
After so many years in the game, Franti says his aim is still to make music that’s timeless:
“At this point in my life when I turn on the radio and hear my song it means a lot to me. When I was a kid I would go on these long drives with my family I and still remember the songs we would listen to in the car. It means I’m part of somebody’s life passages. As an artist, I cherish those moments.”
Opening the Sydney and Melbourne shows will be so-hot-right-now Brisbane indie pop outfit Sheppard. Frontier members will have access to a special pre-sale at the Frontier site from Monday, 25th November at 12:00pm AEST for 24 hours only. General public ticket sales will kick off at 9:00am AEST on Thursday, 28th November.
UPDATE 2:13pm 12/02/14: Michael Franti has announced a new show for Wednesday, 23rd April at The Tivoli in Brisbane, where he’ll be joined by friends Nahko And Medicine For The People, who turned heads at Franti’s own Soulshine Festival in Bali.
