Michelle Obama Has Lined Up An Allstar Cast Of Girl Power For Her SXSW Keynote

Michelle Obama is set to take to the stage at South By South-West on Wednesday to deliver her keynote speech in Texas and she’ll be joined by some very special guests.

Rapper Missy Elliot, actress and singer/rapper Queen Latifah, iconic songwriter Diane Warren and actress Sophia Bush will all join the First Lady to discuss Let Girls Learn, Obama’s initiative to encourage girls to stay in school.

The session will be moderated by Latifah and will also be streamed at around 3am Thursday morning AEDT, if you’re keen on staying up or waking up early to watch the chat.

The First Lady’s keynote follows Obama’s speech at SXSW on Friday. While the First Lady will take a more music-centred approach, the President focussed on the role of technology in increasing voter participation in the US.

Obama’s panel will no doubt be a thought-provoking one with each of the women partaking having had notable achievements in the past few months. Elliot returned last year with her comeback single WTF (Where They From) while Warren was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for Til It Happens To You, a song she wrote with Lady Gaga about sexual abuse.

You can stream it here on Thursday morning.
