Having already revealed a mega-bill for 2014’s One Night Stand, Triple J have now done regional music fans one better by announcing the addition of Mildura hip-hop duo WZRDKID as the winners of the Unearthed One Night Stand comp, who’ll now perform alongside Illy, RÜFÜS, and more.
Mildura offered up over 90 Unearthed artists for organisers to choose from, with the field dominated by rock, indie, and electronic outfits. However, it was the futuristic hip-hop stylings of WZRDKID that stood out to judges, with their introspective rhymes and forward-thinking, extraterrestrial beats.
This will be an incredible opportunity for the two Mildura boys to share a stage with some of the country’s brightest talent, including ARIA award winning rapper Illy, bluesy crooner Dan Sultan, who recently unveiled his latest album, and distortion-fuelled Queensland hard rockers Violent Soho.
The Triple J One Night Stand is a free, all ages, drug and alcohol-free event, which will be broadcast live on Triple J from 2pm, with hosts Matt & Alex and Zan Rowe bringing listeners all the latest musical action and interviews with the lineup. Readers can check below for all event details.
