Dermot Kennedy has shared the full line-up for his inagural Misneach Festival, which is set to take place at The Domain in Sydney on Sunday, March 16th – on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, no less. The County Dublin native will headline the day himself, which will also feature a slew of artists that are either Irish natives or Australian artists with Irish heritage. The full line-up, as well ticketing information, can be found below.
“I can’t believe this line-up,” wrote Kennedy on his social media announcing the festival. “[These are] genuinely some of my favourite artists, who have inspired me for a long time, and some of the most exciting music coming out of Ireland.” Alongside Kennedy, The Frames – the beloved Glen Hansard-fronted folk-rock band – will return to Sydney as part of the festivities, marking their only Australian show.
Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap will also perform, having played a sold-out show in Sydney the night before as part of their debut Australian tour. Matt Corby and Meg Mac will represent Australian artists with Irish heritage on the bill, fresh from their collaborative single ‘Bricks’ released earlier this year.
Dermot Kennedy – ‘Lost’
Kennedy originally announced the imminent arrival of Misneach (Gaelic for “courage”) last month. “For so many years now, I have watched the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in so many different cities with a massive sense of pride,” he wrote at the time. “For a country so rich in culture, [however,] I didn’t see [Ireland] being represented fully in these events worldwide, and I wondered: could we change that? With this inaugural year, we hope to begin an annual tradition that will enrich the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations around the world with music and the arts by showcasing some of the best new and established Irish musical talent.”
