Modest Mouse Scrap Tour To Focus On New Album

It’s a bittersweet moment for European fans of Modest Mouse, but for the rest of us it’s a straight-up sweet moment. The band have announced that they will be diverting their full focus to studio time in order to wrap up their forthcoming album, coming at the expense of their previously announced tour of UK and continental Europe.

The new album will be the first release from the band since 2009’s No One’s First And You’re Next EP, and the first full-length studio offering since 2007’s We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, so the desire to get it done is totally understandable.

The band have said they will announce a new run of dates in lieu of the cancelled ones the first chance they get though until then they will be floating around the studio. Refunds will be available.

The album will be out sometime next year. Read the full statement below.

“After much thought, we have decided to cancel our EU/UK tour to continue work on our forthcoming album. We do appreciate our fans and promise that we will make it up to you next year.

Refunds will be available at the point of purchase.

We look forward to sharing our new music with the world next year.”
