Mudrat Announces Debut Album, Shares Single + Tour Dates

Naarm/Melbourne’s rising punk-rap agitator Mudrat is making serious noise with the announcement of his debut album Social Cohesion – dropping Friday, 29th August – and a fresh round of tour dates to boot. To mark the occasion, he’s just dropped the furious new single dubbed ‘FME’ (‘Fck My Enemies’), a blistering collab with Gadi/Sydney rapper, BVT.

Forged in the heat of a post-show hang after Mudrat’s sold-out gig at Sydney’s Hollywood Hotel, ‘FME’ came together in a single studio session — a raw, high-octane response to the chaos of modern life.

Produced by Joey Plunkett, the track is a wall of distorted riffs, pounding beats, and politically-charged fury that feels somewhere between The Prodigy and Rage Against The Machine. It’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever wanted to flip the bird at oppressive systems — with a twist of self-love and personal fire.

“The song ultimately champions self-love, self-care, and personal advocacy, urging listeners to fiercely challenge any force or individual that seeks to diminish their inner fire and light,” Mudrat explains.

BVT adds that ‘FME’ “serves as a “direct and powerful response to the escalating global civil unrest, crafted with the intent to empower listeners to stand defiant and resist all systems of oppression”.

Meanwhile, Mudrat’s new record Social Cohesion promises more signature MUDRAT chaos: punk, hip-hop, and electronic energy fused together by one of the most exciting new voices in Australia’s alternative scene. Off the back of a breakout 2024 — including a viral political anthem, a slot at St Kilda Festival, and taking out triple j’s Unearthed Denzel Curry Competition (along with BVT) — 2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for the self-described “rat with a mic”.

He’ll take his mosh-ready live show (backed by a full band) across the east coast this August, with stops at Wonder Mountain Festival (Beechworth), before headlining Black Bear Lodge (Brisbane), Bootleggers (Sydney) and Northcote Social Club (Melbourne).
