How many members of Mumford & Sons does it take to change a lightbulb? Well, we thought there were only 4 of them but the brand-new music video for Babel, the title track from their latest record, suggests otherwise, with a seemingly endless cast of Mumfordites in single, rolling shots.
The clip is filmed in beautiful black and white in an empty, crumbling building with historical architecture contrasted with graffiti and ruin. The 4-minute journey takes us on a tour through the rooms of the abandoned mansion in San Francisco, eventually ending up just where we started, with Marcus Mumford and his guitar perched on a staircase.
The band have had a tough year, with bassist Ted Dwane in recovery after his emergency surgery following a blood clot found on his brain last month, but that ain’t stopping them from smashing it out live. The English folk rockers were in fine form at Glastonbury in the UK at the start of the month, enlisting Vampire Weekend and The Vaccines to join them on a cover of With A Little Help From My Friends, and they’re heading our way for Splendour In The Grass in just a few short weeks.
