Mumford & Sons have announced their return to Australia for an exclusive performance in Sydney. On Monday, March 17th, the UK folk-rock trio will perform inside the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall for the very first time, as part of a series of exclusive shows around the globe in a concert series dubbed The Tour Before The Tour. Ticketing information for the show can be found below.
At the show, the band are set to preview new material from their forthcoming fifth studio album Rushmere. Their first album in over six years was co-produced by the band and American country producer Dave Cobb – best known for his work with the likes of Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Brandi Carlile. The album’s title track was released in tandem with the album’s announcement.

In a press statement announcing the show, Ben Marshall – the Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music, and no relation to disgraced former member Winston Marshall – praised the band as “a band that has completely reconstructed the DNA of contemporary folk-rock for a new generation”. “What an extraordinary moment to welcome Mumford & Sons exclusively to Sydney for their Opera House debut,” he said.
“Mumford & Sons’ influence on modern music is immeasurable, inspiring countless artists with their raw honesty, spellbinding musicianship and raucous, cathartic choral swells. This will be a show-stoppingly intimate evening with one of music’s most vital live acts.”
The band were last in Australia circa 2023, where they also gave an exclusive performance – this time as one of the three headliners of the last Splendour In The Grass to date. Prior to that, the band’s last full-scale tour of the country came in 2019 in support of their last album, Delta.
Ticketing for Mumford & Sons’ Opera House show is limited to two tickets per transaction, and will be available in every section of the Concert Hall – including side and rear views. Early ticketing will be made available exclusively through the band’s fanclub, Agora, which can be registered for here. The fanclub pre-sale commences on Thursday, February 13th at 10am AEDT, while general sale will follow on Friday, February 14th – again at 10am AEDT – via the Sydney Opera House website.
