Neil Young And Crazy Horse Title Next Album ‘Psychedelic Pill’

Neil Young and Crazy Horse will follow up their latest album release Americana with a new album titled Psychedelic Pill. While Americana was made up of interpretations of classic American folk-songs, the new one will have entirely original material.

According to an interview with RollingStone, the title of the album will also be the name of one of the tracks, which the group have already been incorporating in their live shows, which kicked off in the US recently. Crazy Horse guitarist Frank ‘Poncho’ Sampedro spoke about the new track, saying: “That song began in the studio when Neil sat down at the piano and began playing chords. Ralph [Molina] was on drums and he started this beat on the snare and wouldn’t stop for nearly an hour. We stood up and played it and realized it was a great song. We just haven’t performed it that great yet, but we’re getting more comfortable every night.”

Sampedro also revealed another track Walk Like a Giant, of which he says they “played it one time and the next thing we know we’re doing overdubs. Then he played it for us. The playback blew our minds. We had no idea we’d done something that big. I imagine it’s about Earth being destroyed by this giant, and we’re screening the planet for survivors and s—. I have all these images going through my head. It’s really crazy.”

Psychedelic Pill will be released this October; you can read the full interview on RollingStone here.
