Neil Young has been penning his memoir, tentatively titled Waging Heavy Peace, to be published by US publisher Blue Rider Press in 2012.
The 65-year-old Canadian legend – known for his stints with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash, as well as his prolific solo work and collaborations with sometime-backing band, Crazy Horse – has written “a good amount of material” according to the publisher. The book promises to cover “pretty much everything – growing up, music, life.”
“This promises to be a revealing, intimate book that will provide the window into Neil’s life and career that fans and admirers have always wanted,” added Blue Rider publisher David Rosenthal.
“I started and kept going,” Young said in a recent statement. “I felt like writing books fits me like a glove.”
The memoir can be expected to include key points in Young’s career and life, from Woodstock, his departure from CSN&Y, his struggle with epilepsy and his son Ben’s cerebral palsy, as well as his long and storied musical works.
The news follows last year’s acclaimed Le Noise, his thirty-third studio album, which scored a Grammy win for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for Angry World.
