New Alt Festival ‘Converge’ Drops Killer Local Lineups for Melbourne & Brisbane

New Aussie punk/rock/metalcore fest on the block Converge has just unveiled the stacked local lineup for its debut dual-city assault this September.

A trio of scene stalwarts top the bill for both the Brisbane and Sydney events, with Brissie/Meanjin emotive rockers Young Lions playing their beloved 2017 album Mr. Spaceman in full, Naarm/Melb emo-metalcore favourites Bad/Love playing their 2019 and 2021 EP’s SIOIS and Life Imitates Art in full, and Sydney/Eora post-hardcore veterans Sienna Skies celebrating new music alongside a setlist of faves from their almost two-decade-spanning catalogue.

Young Lions – ‘Burn The Money’

Brisbane atmospheric alterative rockers The Comfort and Melbourne heavy genre-benders nightlight will also grace both bills, while the Brisbane lineup will be rounded out by Bad Neighbour, East Capri, Isla Vera and Talk Heavy, while Melbourne is copping Bad Juju, Bukowski, Saving Face and 50Fifty.

But it’s much more than just a smorgasbord of epic local live music on offer.

“The festival will be a new cultural experience for heavy music fans, combining live music & alternative culture for an immersive experience,” hypes the event’s official website. “CONVERGE FESTIVAL fills a gap in the market by providing an affordable and exciting mini festival featuring local talent alongside installations from fashion brands,  DJ’s & tattoo artists.”

The first event will hit Brisbane’s Brightside on Sunday, 7th September (running off the back of BIGSOUND), before moving south to Melbourne’s Max Watts on Sunday, 14th September.

As organisers told Wall Of Sound, the event will have a strong focus on local talent and an “old school” approach.

“We are going old school with this,” organisers spilled to the site. “Massive festivals are awesome, but what happened to localised events with a bunch of fun activities to go along with the best alternative music around?”
