Globally respected New Zealand indie troupe Cut Off Your Hands have announced the release of the first single from their second album, and an Australian tour.
Undercover.fm reports that the Auckland four-piece will put out new track You Should Do Better from the forthcoming LP Hollow, the band’s sophomore effort due to come out this July on Speak N Spell through Inertia. The new single is doing the internet rounds for anyone wanting a taster of the new songs.
Hollow marks Cut Off Your Hands’ first album since 2008’s acclaimed debut You & I, a record that allowed the band exposure and fans in Europe and the US. The new songs are apparently a bit of a departure from their previous sound, influenced heavily by the Smiths and Talking Heads, following a deliberate spell off the road.
Cut Off Your Hands come to Australian shores for a very brief visit ahead of the release of Hollow. They will return, however, to play at the Splendour In The Grass Festival in Woodford, Queensland where they will have Kanye West and Coldplay for company.
The June dates are:
Thursday June 16, Alhambra, Brisband, QLD
Friday June 17, Gaelic Hotel, Sydney, NSW
Saturday June 18, Northcote Social Club, Melbourne, VIC
