Cut Copy have shared a new single, entitled ‘Solid’. The Melbourne-born indie-electronica quartet have not put out any new music since the release of their sixth studio album Freeze, Melt, which arrived during the throes of COVID-19 lockdowns circa August 2020. The song was written and produced by the band’s frontman Dan Whitford, who also did the same for the single’s B-side ‘A Decade Long Sunset’. Both tracks can be heard below.
“I wrote the song as a reminder to myself that things will be OK, even when life gets turned on its head and it feels like there’s no way forward,” said Whitford about ‘Solid’. “I hope, in some small way, it gives other people a little nudge forward in the direction of their dreams.”

The band intend to release both songs on hand-coloured 12-inch vinyl, with only 500 copies pressed. This limited release can be purchased by visiting Cut Copy’s official merch store by clicking here – with the band warning that “once they’re gone, they’re gone”.
Indeed, the only major release for Cut Copy between Freeze, Melt and ‘Solid’ was the 2022 vinyl box-set Collected Works 2001–2011. The collection included the band’s first EP, 2001’s I Thought Of Numbers, as well as their debut single ‘1981’ and their first three albums: Bright Like Neon Love (2004), In Ghost Colours (2008) and Zonoscope (2011). It marked the first time these releases were pressed on vinyl either in several years or at all.
