Nickelback’s Australian Tour Just Got Bigger

Nickelback‘s Australian tour has grown in size showing that the popularity of the band continues to surge despite a plethora of naysayers. Today, the Canadian rockers have added another show in Melbourne and their first-ever Newcastle date to their No Fixed Address Tour.

It seems the more flack the band receives, the more Australians fall in love with them. Chad Kroeger and the gang will now play seven dates down under in support of their new album No Fixed Address which was released late last year.

In October last year, a petition was started to stop the band from playing shows in London. The mastermind behind it, Craig Mandell, was asking for $1000 through a crowdfunding campaign to keep the band out of London although we’d hazard a guess they’d be bringing in a little more than that off any given show. Despite Mandell’s best efforts, Nickelback will play in London at Wembley Arena in November.

Australia didn’t follow in Mandell’s steps, thankfully, but we’re also left with a mighty arena tour. “Australians have an insatiable musical appetite and are among the best fans in the world. I’ve played some of my favourite shows there and always look forward to making it back,” says Mike Kroeger, who, for those of you who don’t follow the Kroeger family tree, is Chad’s brother.

The tour is set to kick off in Melbourne where they will play two consecutive nights on Friday, 15th and Saturday, 16th May. Their freshly added Newcastle show marks the first time the four-piece has played in the city for nearly 10 years. The new shows will go on sale at 12pm on Thursday, 12th February.

UPDATE 05/05/15: Canadian Rockers Monster Truck have outed themselves as Nickelback’s tour support, announcing the news via their social channels just over a week before the band’s Australian itinerary is due to kick off. The foursome will be joining Chad Kroeger and his merry men on all of their imminent Aussie arena dates across May.

“We are super stoked to announce we will be supporting Nickelback on their upcoming Australian tour,” Monster Truck said. “We know there have been many of you down under asking when we were gonna be coming….well the time is NOW!”
