No Use For A Name Frontman Tony Sly Passes Away Aged 41

It’s with heavy hearts that Music Feeds reports the passing of a punk rock icon, Tony Sly. For any fan of 90’s punk rock No Use for a Name were a quintessential band who released some of the most prolific punk rock albums of that era, including 1995’s Leche Con Carne, 1997’s Making Friends and 1999’s More Betterness. More recently, Tony released a split acoustic record with close friend Joey Cape titled Acoustic Volume 2, which is comprised of an acoustic version of Lagwagon and N.U.F.A.N songs.

In an interview with Spinner just last month, Tony spoke of on-going back problems caused from a career of touring; however, the cause of Tony’s death has not been released. We here at Music Feeds send our thoughts out to his surviving friends, family and his many fans.

Legendary punk label Fat Wreck Chords posted the following statement on the passing of Tony:

It is with great sorrow that we must say goodbye to Tony Sly of No Use For A Name. We received a call earlier today of his passing, and are devastated. We have lost an incredible talent, friend, and father – one of the true greats. Fat Mike had this to say: “One of my dearest friends and favorite song writers has gone way too soon. Tony, you will be greatly missed”.
