Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, best known as the superstar guitarist of seminal post-hardcore group At the Drive-In and proto-prog rock outfit The Mars Volta, will return to Australia for the second year running, playing a run of shows through November and December with his band the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group.
Despite playing amongst two of the best known prog bands in the last decades, Omar is also a prolific producer and collaborator in his own right. With no less than 30 albums to his name, last year’s Australian visit showcased his versatility on the live front, with a series of sold-out shows being treated to epic instrumental rock jams and Latin-tinged melodic grooves.
Rodriguez-Lopez will also be headlining the Cherry Rock festival lineup in Melbourne.
For any prog fan or jam band aficionado, these shows are not to be missed.
