One Direction Are Apparently Breaking Up, Internet Will Likely Follow

This is a dark day for fangirls and fanboys everywhere.

Heartthrob boyband One Direction have apparently decided to disband in March, following “crunch talks” in London.

But before you go and shoot the messenger with your justified and undeniably valid rage-woe, we’re just relaying the original reports from the folks at UK newspaper The Sun, who claim that Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have all agreed to an “extended hiatus”, to focus on their own solo projects.

A “source” reportedly close to the band told the paper: “The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boyband. They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 per cent behind the decision.”

But before you go rushing out to dramatically cast your “1D 4EVA” charm bracelet into the sea, the source was also quick to point out that the fellas were not calling it quits for realsies, saying that it’s “definitely not a split” and that they “fully intend to get back together at some time in the future. But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world’s most popular music act”.

In short, reunion tours will come.

The news comes hot on the heels of former 1D member Zayn Malik taking a not-so-subtle dig at his former band, pretty much saying that he left to make real music.

If reports are accurate, the group’s last concert before the break will likely be at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on October 31st, meaning the boys will not tour in support of their fifth album which is due to be released towards the end of this year.

But for now, let’s just remember the good times.
