Orbital Announce ‘Wonky’ New Album Details

British electronic music pioneers, Orbital will release their first album in eight years, titled Wonky. It was recorded in their Brighton home with the help of electronic producer Mark ‘Flood’ Ellis (U2, Nine Inch Nails). The two brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll conceived the project after making a triumphant return to the live sets, playing at festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, and here at Playground Weekender in 2010, where they sampled the new songs.

“That was really beneficial to our writing, trying out tracks in front of audiences, listening through their ears, getting responses. That’s been a really good string to our bow.” says Phil.

“The whole process of this album has really been a case of the book writing itself,” he continues. “It altogether puts a vividly modern spin on their signature blend of richly melodic, deeply emotive electronica.”

A video for the previously released track Never, which will feature on the album, can be watched below.

Wonky will be out on the 3rd of April.
