Ozzy Osbourne Cancels Ozzfest Leg To Undergo Surgery

Ozzy Osbourne has cancelled the Mexico leg of his annual event, Ozzfest, dubbed the Ozzfiesta, in order to undergo an unspecified surgery at the time.

A statement on the Ozzfiesta website explains that the Black Sabbath singer is scheduled to undergo surgery this May following his South American tour and “requires at least four weeks of recovery time”.

“We are very disappointed that we need to cancel,” continues the statement. Ozzfiesta was set to take place on May 27th at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Blabbermouth reports, the festival was set to feature a headline set by Osbourne as well as dinner party hosted by his wife Sharon Osbourne, an acoustic set by Zakk Wylde, a question-and-answer session with Osbourne and his band, a Black Label Society concert, a comedy night and a charity golf tournament.

Osbourne recently confirmed he and his fellow Black Sabbath band mates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler will be recording a final album, the follow-up to last year’s acclaimed 13, and embarking on a final world tour in 2015.

The band also booked a show this November as part of the Japan Ozzfest lineup, a promo for which features Sharon Osbourne making a claim that “this will be Black Sabbath’s farewell”. The announcement has sparked suggestions that Black Sabbath may play their last ever show on Australian soil sometime in 2015.

Let’s just hope Ozzy Osbourne recovers in time.
