Pantera Bassist Says King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard “Intrigue The Crap Outta” Him

Pantera‘s Rex Brown has become the latest band to wax lyrical about Aussie psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

Brown, who was the band’s bass player, was on US radio station WSOU when he was asked what music he was listening to at the moment.

His answer was our very own King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

“I heard this one thing that intrigued the crap outta me,” he said.

That sounds like he could either really hate it or really love it but luckily he clarified, “I really, really dug it.

“These guys are from Australia and they’re sitting on like five records or something like that. Awesome band!”

They’re actually sitting on 10 records in five years, having just released their second album for this year Murder of the Universe. They also have another one planned for this year.

Unbelievably, that’s more than Pantera released over their very lengthy career which ended with their 2000 record Reinventing the Steel.

King Gizz are picking up fans everywhere at the moment. Last week, The Smith Street Band tweeted their love for the band and expressed their desire to cover them on triple j‘s ‘Like A Version’.
