A Perfect Circle Are Plotting A 2017 Comeback

It’s been years since we’ve heard anything from Maynard James Keenan‘s other other band, but it seems that’s all about to change.

A Perfect Circle are set to come full circle, returning next year with new tour dates and possibly even new music.

The news comes straight from the horse’s mouth — revealed by Keenan this week during the Los Angeles leg of his A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things US book tour, which just so happened to be moderated by APC guitarist Billy Howerdel.

As Metal Injection reports, during the pair’s convo, they jointly let slip that A Perfect Circle would be touring next year, and revealed that the band has been working on some new tunes. They also confirmed one gig (sadly in the US) at the Hollywood Bowl on May 7th, 2017.

So this is pretty huge news, since the heavy rock supergroup hasn’t released any new orig material — or even played live — since 2013, with their most recent album (AKA Emotive which was released all the way back in 2004) being made up largely of covers.

Speaking back in 2013, Howerdel reckoned he had about “75 percent of the foundation of [the next] A Perfect Circle record ready to go”, adding: “I think that all will change once Maynard gets involved and he has more time to focus on it.”

Which is stellar news for fans of the Circle, but maybe doesn’t bode so well for Tool fans, who are still waiting on the band’s long, long, long-awaited follow-up to their 10,000 Days LP.

Fingers crossed an Aussie tour could figure into APC’s 2017 comeback plans (Maynard does have a well-documented love for Australia after all, even if he can’t pronounce it).

In the meantime, you can catch him touring Down Under in January of 2017 with his other band, Puscifer.
