Everyone’s got their own little idea for a recession buster, and Babyshambles main man Pete Doherty is no different. In a recent interview, the rocker detailed his foolproof revenue raising plan, which includes second-hand cigarette butts once smoked by Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss.
In the chat with NME, Doherty outlined his plan to sell some questionable rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia items at a market stall in Camden:
“I’ve got fag butts that belong to Bobby Gillespie, Kate Moss and Amy Winehouse, and I’ve got Christmas paper that (former Coventry City goalkeeper) Steve Ogrizovic sent to the guy from Black Sabbath. All kinds of shit, basically.”
So in other words, he hasn’t cleaned his place for a decade and couldn’t bear to just throw these things away.
Of course, when you get time with Doherty, you don’t waste it on idle chitchat. The singer also detailed the band’s forthcoming album, slated for a September release, revealing that famed producer Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths) has added his golden touch to the recordings:
“It’s a strong record. Stephen Street has pulled it out of the bag, I think. And there’s a special guest on one of the songs. We’re not saying who it is yet but you’ll like it.”
Babyshambles will be in town real soon as part of Splendour In The Grass 2013 as well as their own headlining shows. And who knows? Maybe Doherty will be bringing down a few extra ciggie butts for petrol money.
