Peter Hook & The Light have announced their return to Australia for the third time in the 2020s thus far. The band, lead by former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook, will be playing New Order’s 2001 album Get Ready in its entirety to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They will also play a second set each night composed of both New Order and Joy Division’s greatest hits. Details below.
Hook and co. were last in Australia circa May 2024, as part of the band’s Substance world tour. On it, the band played a 31-song setlist composed of 16 New Order singles and 15 Joy Division singles. In 2022, the band played Australia on their Joy Division: A Celebration world tour, which saw them play both of Joy Division’s studio albums – Unknown Pleasures and Closer – in their respective entireties.
New Order – ’60 Miles An Hour’
Get Ready, New Order’s seventh studio album, was released in August of 2001. The album was a worldwide success, reaching the top 10 in six different countries – including Australia, where it peaked at number seven on the ARIA Albums Chart. Its lead single and opening track was ‘Crystal’, which featured a music video in which the song was performed by a fictional band named The Killers – which is where the actual Killers got their band name from when they formed later that year.
