Pixies Announce November 2024 Headlining Shows

The Pixies have announced two last-minute headlining shows for later this month, which will take place while they are in the country as the main support for Pearl Jam‘s Dark Matter stadium tour. The American alternative rock veterans will headline at Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom on Friday, November 15th, as well as at Sydney’s Liberty Hall (formerly Max Watt’s) on Wednesday, November 20th. It marks their first time playing at either venue, as well as two of the most intimate shows the band have ever played in Australia. Tickets for both shows can be accessed via Live Nation.

Joining the Pixies as support for both shows are Melbourne band The Belair Lip Bombs. The garage rock band, fresh from signing to Jack White‘s Third Man Records label, completed the Jerry Can And A Van national tour back in September, with support from the likes of Mac the KnifeHoonPrivate Wives, Sunfruits and Sesame Girl. They are currently working on the follow-up to their debut album, Lush Life, which was released in August of 2023.

The Pixies were last in Australia at the end of 2022, as part of their Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa world tour. The tour had originally come to town in the first quarter of 2020, but was cut short to the rising threat of COVID-19. The band ultimately returned in December 2022, with a new album entitled Dogrel also in tow.

Since they were last here, the band have parted ways with long-serving bassist Paz Lechantin, who was with the band from 2014. She was replaced by former Band Of Skulls bassist Emma Richardson, who made her debut with the band on their 10th studio album The Night The Zombies Came. The album was released at the end of last month on Friday, October 25th.

A pre-sale for both shows will run from 10am AEDT on Thursday, November 7th and can be registered for here. General sale will then follow on Friday, November 8th – again at 10am AEDT. Tickets are available via Oztix for Melbourne, and via Moshtix for Sydney.
