You may be aware of Shaquille O’Neal, the legendary, now-retired professional American basketball player. What you might not know is that Shaq is a big EDM fan, and DJs under the name Diesel.
O’Neal performed a one-hour set under his DJ Diesel moniker over the weekend at Tomorrowland, an electronic dance music festival in Belgium. He wasn’t content to simply rock up, play some tunes and head home, however. Outside of his performance, he caught some other acts at the fest including London dubstep duo Modestep. And Shaq, who stands at over seven feet tall, absolutely went off.
In videos posted by DJ Kill the Noise to Instagram, the NBA Hall of Famer is first seen in the front row head banging, and then later moshing in the crowd, flanked by a mob of festivalgoers. In another video posted by Shaq himself, he explains that sometimes it’s “better to party WITH the people, than for the people!”
The clips are a total joy to watch, and there’s something incredibly endearing about seeing the very tall, 47-year old O’Neal having such a good time.
