Could Powderfinger Be Reuniting Again Tonight?

Seven years after they officially broke our hearts and ended their time as a band, Powderfinger shocked the world when the majority of band members joined Bernard Fanning on stage at Splendour In The Grass this year, and now rumours are circulating that it could happen again tonight.

Fanning is set to play at Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival on the Sunshine Coast tonight, and in vintage style Powderfinger fans have begun to speculate and hope for a repeat of the Splendour performance.

Sunshine Coast Daily reports that MMVAF organsier James Birrell remains hopeful of the possibility, but was giving little away on the matter. “All I can say is fingers crossed,” he said.

Former Powderfinger drummer Jon Cogill, who was “surprised” when he was left out of the Splendour reunion, has poured water on the rumours.

“No, it’s not happening,” he said. “I’m pretty sure it’s not. They would have told me this time.”

While the possibility remains just that at the moment, Coghill might not be the most in-the-loop source on the matter, so it looks like it’ll just be a matter of wait and see for Maroochy attendees tonight.

We’re crossing our fingers, toes, and anything else we can think of that this goes ahead!
