Sydney crew She Rex made a splash at last year’s BIGSOUND conference in Brisbane with their socially-minded, forward-thinking brand of rock and roll that still harkens back to good ol’ fashioned Aussie pub rock. Having spent the last 12 months supporting the likes of Wolfmother, Stonefield, The Preatures, and more, they’ve returned with an epic new taste of visual splendour, The Heist.
Their Sydney residency and East Coast tour with Stonefield saw them garner coveted “ones to watch” accolades from several outlets and their consistently gripping live performances have been the subject of rave reviews across the country from fans and critics alike. It’s little wonder they now command an ever-growing fan base and a position as one of the country’s most promising bands.
With influences ranging from the baroque melancholy of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, to the future-funk dance floor terrorism of M.I.A., to the sex-drenched desert rock of Queens of the Stone Age, She Rex possess a varied palette and use it to create one of the country’s most exciting new rock sounds. Check out The Heist video, which was partially shot at the Captain Cook Hotel, below.
