PREMIERE: Tia Gostelow Watches The World Rush By Her In New ‘Vague Utopia’ Video

Prodigeous youngster Tia Gostelow has unveiled the official video clip for her second single Vague Utopia.

17-year old Gostelow, winner of the first triple j Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative and finalist in Unearthed High this year, features in the clip partaking in everyday activities yet remaining obviously disconnected from reality.

The song deals with some typical coming-of-age themes like the feeling of waiting to finish school and begin adulthood, and scenes of Gostelow on a bus and in a movie theatre watching the world rush by serve to cement these ideas in this Vague Utopia.

“I wanted to let the music and visuals lull the viewer into what initially seems like a straight narrative  – but ultimately ends up slightly off kilter,” says director Eden Mulholland.

“In each scene something inexplicable happens to the characters, something a little odd and we are left wondering what is real, is it part of her dream?”

“Shooting this video for Vague Utopia was actually pretty scary but really, really cool at the same time. It was the first time I’d flown down to the Brisbane/Gold Coast area by myself and without either of my parents with me for the weekend, I had a lot of independence which was cool,” adds Tia.

“Eden and the team had an awesome vision and it’s amazing that we did all of this in one day, I’m so proud of this video and hope you all interpret it in your own ways.”

Tia has also announced a three-date debut east coast Australia tour for 2017. You can catch the full dates and ticketing details below.
