England-come-Brisbane indie poppers Tourism have today dropped a crazy, random pastiche film clip for their new single A Song For You (Once Beaten Black & Blue), which you can only catch on Music Feeds!
The track is taken from the band’s highly-anticipated second EP, out early next year. It’s gotten great air time on triple j, premiering on Dom Alessio’s Home & Hosed and Richard Kingsmill’s 2013. Its catchy Arctic Monkeys meets Black Rebel Motorcycle Club feel has been reeling the people in.
The deliberately low-budget video successfully juxtaposes the song’s dark lyrical content, centred around domestic abuse, with some insane green screen madness. Complete with the perennial floating head, hula dancer and piñata.
“We wanted to get people talking and address our ideas for a change,” said the band. “There are plenty of violent things in the clip, but it’s more making light out of a dark subject. And about 80% doesn’t make any sense full stop… Which is perfect.”
“I think Roland Irwin the director did a great job at combining lots of very different styles of filmwork all into the one random masterpiece,” they added.
You can catch Tourism live at their upcoming show on Thursday 19th December at Black Bear Lodge in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane with guests Belligerents and Avaberée.
