Primal Scream Announce 2025 Australian Tour

Primal Scream have detailed their return to Australia, which will take place in the early days of 2025. The five-date, capital city tour will take the Scottish alternative rock outfit across the nation for the first time in nearly seven years, having last toured circa 2018. The full tour itinerary, as well as pre-sale and ticketing information, can be found below.

The band will be returning to Australia in support of their 12th studio album Come Ahead. Set for release in November, the album is their first in eight years following 2016’s Chaosmosis. This marks the longest gap between Primal Scream albums in the band’s 35-year-plus career, which can be attributed not only to the COVID-19 pandemic but also the death of longtime keyboardist Martin Duffy in 2022.

Primal Scream – ‘Loaded’

“I’m very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record,” said frontman Bobby Gillespie about the band’s upcoming studio album. “If there was an overall theme to Come Ahead, it might be one of conflict – whether inner or outer. There is also a thread of compassion running through the album.

“The title is a Glaswegian term; if someone threatens to fight you, you say ‘come ahead!’ It’s redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence.”

Since the release of Chaosmosis, Gillespie also released his first album outside of Primal Scream: 2021’s Utopian Ashes, a collaborative effort with former Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth. Later that year, Gillespie also published his first memoir entitled Tenement Kid about his upbringing.
