Last week we reported that the Prince Bandroom in Melbourne might close after being purchased by the Melbourne Pub Group (MPG). MPG are renowned for taking over older style pubs and converting them into modern up market gasto style venues.
However word from the Bandroom Booking manager Stephen Kingi is that the much loved Melbourne venue ‘will not close down anytime soon’. All current band dates held at the venue are going to go ahead as planned. He is very positive about what the new owners are going to bring to the venue.
The venue has hosted some of the biggest acts in the Australian and international music scene, including Smashing Pumpkins, You Am I, Coldplay, Ben Harper, One Day As a Lion and Goldfrapp.
