Prince’s Iconic Yellow Schecter Cloud Guitar Up for Auction

A rare piece of music history is up for grabs as gottahaverockandroll.com presents an auction for Prince’s owned and played Yellow Schecter Cloud Guitar. This iconic instrument was part of Prince’s personal inventory, used during performances and rehearsals, and served as a prototype for the Schecter range he commissioned for general sale.

What makes this guitar particularly special is its in-house PRN MUSIC CORP serial number, PM 16231, clearly labeled on the inside cavity cover on the back. Unlike other Schecter guitars, this prototype does not feature the stamped Schecter serial number below the ‘Diamond Series’ logo on the headstock, highlighting its exclusivity as it was built specifically for Prince rather than for general sale.

Cloud Guitar Sells For $133,000 At Auction

The guitar is finished in a striking yellow with symbol inlays—a combination said to be one of Prince’s favorites for the Cloud guitar. It comes with a hard flight case lined with soft purple fabric, although it’s noted that the case was not originally Prince’s but was later purchased by the original owner for storage.

This guitar, which came from one of Prince’s guitar technicians, is now up for auction with bidding starting at $60,000. It is expected to sell for over $100,000, offering fans and collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of the legendary musician’s legacy. The auction is live now at gottahaverockandroll.com.
