Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav Taken Into Custody For Assault With A Deadly Weapon

NME has reported that arguably the greatest hype man of all-time, Public Enemy’s Flava Flav, has been arrested in Las Vegas for assault with a deadly weapon following a confrontation with his fiancée’s teenage son. Flav, real name William Drayton Jr, allegedly threatened the teenager on October 17 with a knife in a house located southwest of the Las Vegas Strip.

According to KTUL, the 53 year old rapper was arrested at around 3:30am. Although the officers involved have not reported anyone as injured, Flav now faces the possibility of being charged with the felony of assault with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor battery-domestic violence. Should Flav be convicted of the first offense, he faces a possible prison term of six years, while the second charge carries a potential six-month stint in county jail. Bail has been set at $23,000.

As noted by MTV, Flav’s arrest comes shortly after Public Enemy were nominated as a possible inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the 2013 Class. Despite the arrest, PE is still scheduled to perform at London’s Relentless Freeze Festival later this month. The winter sports/music festival runs from October 26-27 and also boasts acts such as Grandmaster Flash and Mark Ronson.
