Ethereal Atlanta songstress CAT POWER is coming back to Australia for an exclusive Victorian performance at the Pyramid Rock Festival! Accompanied by her band DIRTY DELTA BLUES featuring drummer Jim White (Dirty Three), guitarist Judah Bauer (Blues Explosion), keyboardist Greg Foreman (Delta 72) and Eric Papparazi on bass. Don’t call this a comeback! GRINSPOON return in 2009 to tear up Pyramid’s mainstage with songs from their smashing new album Six To Midnight. With a 14-year career featuring hit after hit, multiple-platinum sales and a plethora or ARIA Awards Grinspoon have cemented their position at the helm of the Aussie rock scene. Grinspoon’s killer live show has conquered every main stage in Australia and the Pyramid Rock Festival is absolutely thrilled to have them back for another ripper performance in 2009!

Australia’s indie rock darlings BRITISH INDIA have just released ‘Vanilla’ the big, bold and beautiful new single from their forthcomin third album, scheduled for release in March 2010. British India are currently living up to their reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working bands on an extensive 30-date national single launch tour. British India will tear up the stage with their tight, intense and explosive live show at Pyramid 2009!

Legendary Detroit singer, songwriter and producer extraordinaire Joseph “Amp” Fiddler, whose musical styles include funk, soul, dance and electronic music, has had the pleasure of working with artists of the highest calibre such as Prince, Jamiroquai, George Clinton and Moodymann. AMP FIDDLER is sure to get the groove on at Pyramid Rock Festival this year!

So far in a glittering career KRAFTY KUTS has gained dance music’s top accolades including Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards, Breakspoll’s Face of Breaks 2003 and Best Breaks DJ at the M8 Ibiza awards 2006, in only his first year as a resident on the white isle. A stunning haul at Breakspoll 2007 saw him claiming Best Album for his debut long player ‘Freakshow’, Best DJ for a record third consecutive year and to cap it off, the richly deserved Outstanding Contribution to Breakbeat award that acknowledged his long journey to the acme of club culture. Impressed? Wait ’til you see him in action at Pyramid!

It’s a pleasure to welcome home Melbourne’s own queen of folk pop CLARE BOWDITCH from Berlin where she’s been busy recording her fourth studio album. Clare Bowditch is about to release her brand new single ‘The Start Of War.’ If you ask politely she may even play some new songs from her unreleased album. Clare Bowditch will set hearts racing when she graces the stage at Pyramid Rock Festival this year!

Attaining cult-like support with their outrageous lyrics and explosive live shows, Adelaide’s FUNKOARS are known in the Australian hip-hop scene for keeping things stank, surly and most of all slamming – the way hip-hop should be. The awesome foursome return to rock Pyramid for the second year running!

UK’s Graeme SINDEN is a unique DJ-producer who has revitalised the club scene, staying one step ahead as musical boundaries become ever blurred. Straddling a bass heavy club sound that also encompasses leftfield rock music and global beats, Sinden is renowned for his genre-blending DJ sets, cracklin’ hot radio show, his bumpin’ remixes and most importantly he’s coming to Australia to rock Pyramid revellers into a New Year!

JACK BEATS are a multiple DMC Award winning DJ duo made up of Niall Dailly (DJ Plus One of Scratch Perverts fame) and Ben Geffin (The Mixologists). They have had an immediate and profound effect on the club scene since teaming up in 2007 producing transcendent remixes for La Roux and Florence & The Machine amongst others and releasing their genre bending ‘U.F.O’ EP on Hervé’s Cheap Thrills Records. Jack Beats will set the dancefloor on fire at Pyramid Rock Festival!

CANYONS equal two producers/DJs Leo Frostwave and Fred Cherry. As influenced and inspired by soul, hip hop and psych rock as they are by disco and early house, Canyons write music that sounds just as good in the club as it does on your sailboat. Live instruments are combined with drum machines, percussion, analogue effects, vocals and samples to create a sound that is refreshing, relevant and all their very own. Party with Canyons at Pyramid!

Sydney indie rockers RED RIDERS are a bunch of talented, spirited lads who treat their audience like their mates and are willing to take major risks in order to make the music that they love. If you haven’t seen Red Riders live then you are in for a treat when the band play Pyramid 2009!

Australian artist DALLAS FRASCA cuts a blue line through rock, roots, blues, soul and pop on her exhilarating and dynamic debut album Not For Love Or Money. Recorded over 18 months around the country during a heavy-duty tour, Dallas Frasca’s new songs are sure to thrill when she returns to Pyramid Rock Festival to end another great year!

Perth super troopers SUGAR ARMY are marching on Pyramid Rock Festival for the second year running, armed with a lethal arsenal of hits from their staggering debut album The Parallels Amongst Ourselves. With a live show that never fails to rip indie rock a new hole, expect to be blown away when Sugar Army take on Pyramid 2009!

The frenetic music of five-piece electro-pop-indie-rock band from Christchurch, New Zealand, BANG BANG ECHE will grab your attention at Pyramid. Their energetic shows with shouty vocals and dance-punk synth stabs make the kids dance wildly, jumping up and down like they’re on a pogo stick out of pure excitement. If fantastic noise-filled, high energy shows are your cup of tea, then you’ll fit perfectly amongst the raucous rabble at a Bang Bang Eche gig.

Hailing from Perth, the epicentre of the Australasian drum & bass scene, SHOCKONE (aka Karl Thomas) is fast becoming one of D&B’s major new talents. From his origins in a band with Rob and Gareth from Pendulum, through to his recent assault on drum & bass dance floors worldwide, his musical energy and expression is powerful to say the least. ShockOne will light up the stage at Pyramid Rock Festival 2009!

DIAFRIX is a Melbourne hip hop outfit made up of African born MCs Azmarino and Momo. They’ve made their mark on the local scene with the release of their brilliant debut album Concrete Jungle out earlier this year. Diafrix will get the festival pumping when they hit the Pyramid stage!

Sydney whiz kid TOM UGLY, who won triple j’s inaugural “Unearthed High” competition last year (then known as [is]), will play Pyramid Rock Festival as a fresh year 12 graduate! Nominated for Qantas’ 2009 Spirit Of Youth Award (SOYA) in the Music Category, overachieving boy-genius Tom Ugly and band will be celebrating at Pyramid, playing songs from his debut self-titled EP.

In a time when everyone who isn’t Crookers is claiming to be a “disco act”, there is an insurmountable wash of pretenders. THE SWISS, however, are a legit live disco band whose existence is based entirely on flavour and good times rather than the Cobra Snake and fitted caps. The Swiss bring crisp and snappy drums that cause pregnancies, quicksand lazer-sludge bass, dizzy pops & flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life to The Pyramid Rock Festival this year!

RED INK have ambition, that much is obvious. But it’s the way their talent has risen in hand with that ambition over the course of the past four years as a band, slipping under the radar, making an impact and rising to prominence with industry heads in the know that is most impressive about this young quartet; they’re good and they know it, now everybody else is about to find out including Pyramid punters!

CALLING ALL CARS have just released the first single ‘Hold, Hold, Fire’ from their forthcoming debut album. Until recently the band have been holed up in the studio recording said album but come October they’re kicking off an intense national tour that will see them on the road until New Year when they hit The Pyramid Rock Festival!

To put it simply THE MELODICS are a cross genre band. This Melbourne group mess around with new wave, synth- pop, 2-tone and hip hop to create some damn fresh flavours. Crowds get down to it; they dance, they sing, they think. Get into an electro-dionysian trance with The Melodics at Pyramid!

Melbourne five-piece THE SMOKE have a fiery punk take on beat music and psychedelia. The recording of their debut album Blood Orange was nearly thwarted by bushfires near the Dandenong Ranges earlier this year but the guys pulled through to record a raw an reckless album. Live, The Smoke is an explosion of energy and simplistic, addictive rhythm. See them rock Pyramid in 2009!

Dave CHESTWIG of Melbourne town has been DJing disco before it was cool and mixing it with futuristic electronica to make a space party disco sound. The last year has seen Chestwig support acts such as Peaches, Chicks On Speed, Ratatat, Aeroplane, Joakim, Tim Sweeney, Pop Levi, Todd Terje, DJ Kaos (DFA), Punks Jump Up (Kitsune) and play festivals as varied as Rainbow Serpent, Laneway, Folk Rhythm and Life, High Vibes and in 2009 he returns to Pyramid Rock Festival!

Having recently rocked South East Asia, DJ CECILLE is back by popular demand to bring in the New Year with her unique blend of luscious beats and an edgy, auric twist! From techno to electro and house, her hybrid blend of sounds continues to delight dance-floors across Melbourne and beyond. From Revolver to Sunny, F4 to Loop, Earthcore to Rainbow Serpent, with her mixture of fun, joy and seriously tough beats, Cecille knows how to get the party rocking at Pyramid!

Formed in May 2008 on the Bass Coast of Victoria, IN SOL INSIDE are half of the six-piece alt-prog band Cape Grim. In Sol is a spiritual and flavoursome release for the band, and the journey they are taking with their new sounds, feelings and directions is fast-becoming one of a lifetime. There’ll be hard-hitting, melodic and dynamic rock when the trio play Pyramid!
