Queens Of The Stone Age Raise Over $20K For Hobart Children’s Hospital

Queens Of The Stone Age‘s mammoth Australian in tour is almost over, but last week they played a special, one-off charity show at Hobart’s MONA (Museum of Old and New Art).

All proceeds from the show when to the Royal Hobart Hospital’s Paediatrics Ward, and it turns out they raised a colossal $20,000.

In a statement preceding the show, QOTSA frontman Josh Homme elaborated on why he wanted to do the show.

“I sit with [wife] Brody [Dalle]’s Mum and enjoy the wild, utterly Australian beauty,” he said.

“I think Mona is a perfect example of Tassie individuality, so playing there is an honour.”

Now, in a statement released by Frontier Touring, it has been revealed that following the show, the band paid a visit to the hospital.

“The day after the show,” the statement reads, “the band made a special visit to the hospital – dropping off presents, and presenting monies to staff, and showing their support for a city close to the band’s heart.”

“Josh Homme even took along his mother-in-law, mum of rocker and wife Brody Dalle-Homme.”

What’s more is that this intimate MONA show was filmed, but the footage is yet to be released.

QOTSA will play one show in Adelaide tonight, before taking on their final show of the tour in Perth this coming Wednesday.
