Queens Of The Stone Age Announce One-Off Charity Show In Hobart

Queens of the Stone Age are coming to Australia next month as part of their ‘The End Is Nero’ tour, with a few festival stops along the way including a sold-out show at Hobart’s weird and wonderful MONA FOMA festival. And while the Californian rock icons are down in Tassie, they’ve decided to do a bit of extra good in the world.

QOTSA will be teaming up with the crew at MONA for a special charity show to raise money for the Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Services and the 24 Carrot Gardens project, which aims to educate kids in health, wellbeing and the importance of lifelong learning. The intimate acoustic fundraiser will take place on Thursday, 15th February at Mona’s Nolan Gallery, with tickets on sale now (peep all the details down below).

“I’m a father of three, that’s my favourite thing in the world,” QOTSA frontman Josh Homme said in a press statement about the new show. “As you travel around, I see a lot of really nice places, but I see a lot of dark places too. You’re only a kid once, you’re an adult your whole life… I also want to play acoustically. I love to play Mona. It’s a chance to do something nice and this is a situation where it’s very simple to do something nice.”

The band have an absolutely choc-a-bloc itinerary for their visit down under, with a seven-date headline tour taking in multiple shows across Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, plus the two dates for Tassie’s MONA FOMA and an extra two stops headlining Lookout Festival in Torquay and the Gold Coast.
