Ok so the break up might not end up being the most shocking R.E.M news you hear today after all. A video posted on Michael Stipe’s tumblr has him revealing “it” to the world in all “it’s” glory.
The video appears to be a time lapse of him changing in and out of his clothes over a period of days or even weeks. If you’re thinking it had anything to do with the break up, à la Michael Clarke and Lara Bingle, it was posted back in July and has remained hidden (or in a way not hidden) until today.

R.E.M announced their split this morning after 31 years of together. Posting this statement on their website this morning.
“To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”
They were considered pioneers of the left-of-the-dial alternative rock movement in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
