Radiohead Won’t Be Playing Splendour In the Grass 2012

There has been more speculation today that Radiohead will be out here to play on the Splendour in the Grass 2012 line-up in July after it was pointed out that the band would be playing Fuji Rock 2012 this year.

Update: Splendour Organisers squash rumours via Twitter

@SplendourintheGrass: “Re the speculation about Radiohead @ SITG this year, we’d like to officially dispel these rumours, unfort they’re not playing Splendour 2012”

@SplendourintheGrass: “And while we’re here… brace yourselves… ditto for The Stone Roses, they won’t be playing Splendour 2012 either :-(“

Fuji Rock has often shared bands with Splendour, along with Summersonic, the other major festival that takes place in Japan’s summer season. However interesting it may be, it seems Splendour may not have the facilities to accommodate their needs. Our sources tell us that we will see an Australian Radiohead tour this year but they won’t play Splendour, instead the tour will consist of arena shows, perhaps later on this year.

Reports earlier this week that they would be heading our way for an Australia/New Zealand tour in November might be the closer rumour to believe. New Zealand born psychedelic-pop musician Connan Mockasin sent out a tweet stating that he wouldn’t be coming home soon, but would be later on with Radiohead in November; “I won’t be coming home for camp but will be with Radiohead later in the year”.

This was also reinforced by New Zealand radio-show host Charlotte Ryan of 95bFM who said that an industry insider had confirmed Radiohead’s November appearance in New Zealand.

Radiohead, in a recent interview, said that their 2012 world tour would consist mainly of songs from their recent release The King of Limbs instead of a ‘greatest hits’ type tour, which was their last big tour.
